Organize Accounts

If you have a small number of accounts, you can skip this page.

But if you have a lot of accounts, organize them efficiently will be an important step to set up your tracking system.

Multiple Profiles

Multi-profile is a unique feature that you can only find in Fina. It allows you to create multiple profiles in a workspace. Each profile has its own set of data, including accounts, transactions, categories and rules. Accounts can be moved between profiles.

For example, I have created 4 profiles in my workspace:

Profiles Example

  • Personal: This is my personal profile. I use it to track my personal cashflow, budgeting, etc.
  • Fina: I use this profile to track all finances related to Fina the company.
  • Columns: I use this profile to track all finances related to Columns the company.
  • Investment: I use this profile to track all my investments. Since investments are not related to my personal cashflow, this separate profile effectively prevents cluttering my personal profile with investment data.

I see many users create a profile for family members when they help manage their finance, such as Children, Parents, etc.

This is a good practice to keep your data organized.

Account Tags

Account tags are a powerful feature that allows you to organize your accounts in a flexible way. You can create tags to group your accounts by any criteria you want. For example, you can create tags for Bank, Credit Card, Investment, Cash, etc. You can also create tags for specific purposes, such as Travel, Shopping, Dining, etc.

The beauty of account tags is when you want to select a list of accounts in a Fina Block to see your numbers, now you can select a tag instead of selecting each account one by one. This is a huge time saver when you have a lot of accounts.

See below account selector to get the idea:
