Organize Accounts
If you have a small number of accounts, you can skip this page.
But if you have a lot of accounts, organize them efficiently will be an important step to set up your tracking system.
Multiple Profiles
Multi-profile is a unique feature that you can only find in Fina. It allows you to create multiple profiles in a workspace. Each profile has its own set of data, including accounts, transactions, categories and rules. Accounts can be moved between profiles.
For example, I have created 4 profiles in my workspace:
- Personal: This is my personal profile. I use it to track my personal cashflow, budgeting, etc.
- Fina: I use this profile to track all finances related to Fina the company.
- Columns: I use this profile to track all finances related to Columns the company.
- Investment: I use this profile to track all my investments. Since investments are not related to my personal cashflow, this separate profile effectively prevents cluttering my personal profile with investment data.
I see many users create a profile for family members when they help manage their finance, such as Children
, Parents
, etc.
This is a good practice to keep your data organized.
Account Tags
Account tags are a powerful feature that allows you to organize your accounts in a flexible way.
You can create tags to group your accounts by any criteria you want. For example, you can create tags for Bank
, Credit Card
, Investment
, Cash
, etc.
You can also create tags for specific purposes, such as Travel
, Shopping
, Dining
, etc.
The beauty of account tags is when you want to select a list of accounts in a Fina Block to see your numbers, now you can select a tag instead of selecting each account one by one. This is a huge time saver when you have a lot of accounts.
See below account selector to get the idea:
